Advice on Maternity pay needed please

Good evening,
I'm currently on maternity leave. During my mat leave work issues an updated benefits document which stated some changes to maternity allowance. What they stated in the document regarding allowance I believe is wordedincorrectly and leaves me the equivalent to 13 weeks smp roughly £1800 short of what I was expecting. Upon discussing this with the payrol department they have said I have perceived the document wrong. I believe I haven't and their policy doesn't match what is advertised in the benefits document. If anyone is in a position to advice me I can provide you with further wordings from the a document. Essentially I want to know if I'm within my rights to ask for the money I believe they have wrongly advertised.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
