I'm planning to sell my house and move in with my parents for a few months while we wait for a new build we are keen on in our area to become available. I'll be similar to you in that I should have enough cash for 60-70% LTV.

I think you're right in what you say and I have the same sentiments. It's your choice what you spend your disposable income on.

The way I look at it is if they saw you had several transactions in your local pub or bar every week would they presume you had a drink problem? As long as you're not massively overdrawn all the time and what comes in is greater than what comes out then how can it be a issue?
  • I've just applied for a mortgage with  my wife with Skipton and our total income is around £3200 a month. After bills are out were left with £1800. I currently bet around £10 per day, would that go against my mortgage application? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    #UPDATE
Skipton has offered us the mortgage we wanted 💪🏻😁
Like people have said, if it's "disposable" income and you can afford it, there shouldn't be any problems.  I had numerous betting transactions and was anxious but turned out good in the end. Happy days.
Now just got to start worrying and hoping the vendors don't pull out! 😂🤦‍♂️

  • Hi

So I have passed my credit check and affordability with a house myself and my partner are going for and tomorrow we have to send off our mortgage application.

However they need to check our bank statements which will show on the last month quite a bit of betting probably around 60 pounds per week will this make us be declined our mortgage?? It is the same for both my and my partners bank statements.

    Thanks

Congratulations!! I am in the same position at the moment, me and partner are going through the process of buying right now, we have our mortgage appointment on Wednesday which im really anxious about because i used to gamble about £10 per day, i can afford to and didn't just realise it could effect the process, since finding out i haven't been on since. Please can i ask who excepted your mortgage if you dont mind me asking?
  • Hi I've gambled 400 pound over 3 months, is this gonna be an issue when looking for a lender as we have had offer accepted and are just getting documents ready to send off?
