Leeds asking who I got legal advice from

Quick question. Lawyer has just came back and said that they are doing their report and want to know who I got my legal advice from. Although I am all for helping my ex I don't see why I need to keep disclosing information to his lawyer! I have signed to say I don't have any part in his house/want nothing in the event of a divorce! Do I need to disclose this to them before they release the funds?! He is set to complete tomorrow and our amicable relationship is slowly becoming a nightmare!

Might be an idea to give a bit of backstory to this as your post in itself doesn't make much sense.0

If you have had legal advice then why not tell them who your solicitor is? If you haven't had legal advice then say so. Have they said that they are insisting on you seeking independent advice?0

what harm will telling them where you got legal advice? You yourself said you are not getting any financial gain from this"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Probably CYA. If you havent had legal advice, then presumably they fear that after the event you may come back and claim that you are due more because you werent aware of x,y and z.
However, its somewhat late for them to be asking, surely this shoudl have come before exchange?
csgohan4, you said that since the OP isnt getting financial gain, its all OK (I paraphrase) but the fact the OP isnt getting any gain, might be the issue, perhaps if they had legal advice, they would?0 -
You are relinquishing your rights in a financial asset. The lender wants to be confident you are not going to turn around in 6 months time and say you did not know what you were agreeing to.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Awch I was loosing it because every week for 5wks I've had to take time off from work to sign something or provide something else.
I told them who my solicitor was previously but they were asking again and I was feeling like they were trying to catch me out or something.
I relinquished all my rights to the property and he relinquished all his rights to my inheritance. We signed and dealed on that. Now the year wait until we can apply for a divorce!0
