The young couple bit is because it is a terraced house. In Oldham like most northern towns a terraced house is a starter home. You don't bring up a family in a terraced house if you can get a semi or detached. The problem with this particular terraced starter home is that it is very expensive for a terraced house. So the young couple would have to be the type who are young well off and spend most of their time in nearby restaurants or out socialising don't have any children and aren't interesting in bringing their friends home because they don't want to show their friends that the best they can do is a terraced house.0 -
The oddest thing about it is, that the house for sale is not the one in the middle of the picture. It's the one on the extreme right.e cineribus resurgam("From the ashes I shall arise.")0

It's on with Tepilo which is a lower cost alternative to high street estate agents. I believe the vendors have probably written the blurb themselves. Tepilo agents take the photos, sort out the EPC and get the place listed online.
Ah, didn't realise the vendors wrote their own description!
So according the vendors it would suit a young professional couple but there is an OFSTED Primary school within walking distance, (for the future patter of little ones)! :rotfl:0 -

PS and it's leasehold! Another big negative for me. (Although appreciate some areas in the north expect that.)2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0 -

Leasehold is a newbuild thing, not a northern thing, and a horrible rip-off at that, as per recent stories such as this. Just another reason to avoid this property, and others like it.0 -
I wouldn't pay that much for anything in Oldham! (Even if I could afford it.)0

It seems some people are happy to pay a premium to live in Greenfield though judging by the sold figures on RM.0 -
Not so much estate agent patter, but as I've mentioned elsewhere, has anyone else noticed how EA's attitude and demeanour completely change when you let them know that you've done a little bit of homework about a particular property or the local market in general?
They clearly hate it and go from being friendly and charming to being spiky and defensive.0
