Richer Sounds are doing the Hitachi L32H01 LCD TV for £349.95 with 1year guarantee. To extend this to 5 year only costs an extra £34.90 but if you can get John Lewis to price match you get guarantee free (normal JL price £499). It also includes free wall mount.
Bought this today and spec is excellent twin HDMI sockets. analogue and digital tuners for freeview, CAM socket, twin RGB SCART sockets are complemented by a component, S-video and VGA input - in short, Pc input, Picture in Picture, contrast ratio 1200:1, everything you'd usually expect form a more expensive LCD TV.
I connected this to my Sky and Xbox 360 and the picture is amazing.

That does sound a lot of telly for the money - I like Hitachi sets - they seem to just go on and on.
There's another thread running at the moment about a 32" Hannspree panel to a similar spec that's available for £310ish delivered from MISCO, but you've mentioned something interesting - I don't think it has a CAM slot so you can get TUTV or SETANTA on it's digital tuner. Strange ommission worth pointing out I think.

Don't JL just pricematch a like for like warranty and tv? ie they will only pricematch the £384.90?
Still a good deal though!
PS what is the response time of the panel?Happiness is wanting what you have, not having what you want.

No JL will cover basic price otherwise they are effectively charging for warranty when they state it's free!! I don't know the response time but certainly no ghosting etc. on XBOX 360 or playing DVD on upscaler player ""Return of the Jedi" and "Fast and Furious"A shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist.

Hi,
Can I ask how you went about the pricematch in store?
Glasgow is our local branch & I was considering the 19" from Aldo for our room but now I'm toying with the 32" Hitachi.
Thanks0 -
You need to contact the store by email at http://www.johnlewis.com/Help/Email.aspx or phone 0141 353 6677 for Glasgow and tell them where you saw the TV you want to match. They will then check but note this can take days. I was lucky that I was getting this checked before RS dropped price even further (was originally £429 without warranty!! last week

If your not bothered about the CAM for the digital tuner (which the Aldi 19" telly doesn't have) then the Hannspree 32" from MISCO is a better deal at £310 delivered.
