noddle \ call credit daily update for free

Hi,

This thread is linked to a separate post in another forum. I am in the process of applying for a mortgage and frustratingly realised that the noddle / call credit report only updates every 30 days, based on the date you first registered.

In my case I opened an account on the 6th of the month - my most recent report was generated on the 6th April so my next update is due on 6th May. This is annoying because if anything impacts my report between 7th April and 5th May I cannot view it via the noddle website, e.g. a lender soft search or balance update.

BUT, there is a way around this!!!! If you sign up to the free giffgaff credit report it updates daily. Giffgaff access the call credit database so it is the SAME data.

I did x2 online AIP's which both generate a soft search in the last few days. BOTH appeared on the giffgaff report the next day. I also did some credit card comparisons via MSE to test my theory. They appeared on the giffgaff report the next day as a soft search.

So, FORGET noddle in my opinion, use giffgaff.

I cannot add the web link on this post (not allowed). Just google giffgaff free credit report and you will see the link

Best of luck.

applying for x2 AIP in such a short time will impact on your credit history to a lender. There is no need to get x2 AIP, let alone any at all.

Gifgaff or any other CRA such as Experian, call credit e.t.c your supposed to get to check any irregularities before you apply for a mortgage

The x 2 AIP's will not impact my credit history at all; they're soft searches so CANNOT be seen by any other potential mortgage lender in the future - they are only visible to myself and the bank which did the soft search.

That's interesting thank you for posting. We've just paid off a lot of debt and we're waiting for credit report to update however looking at the info in the call credit file it's all dated 28th Feb! Everything paid off on the 14 th April so by that rate would need to wait till at least June/July before applying for new mortgage. Will have a look at Giff gaff as maybe more beneficial (if up to date info) to take to mortgage meeting. Thanks

Giffgaff appears to update monthly, just like Noddle.

You may find it optimal to run Noddle on the 1st of the month and Giffgaff on the 15th of the month, so you essentially see your Call Credit report twice a month.

How on earth do mortgage companies work with credit reports of over a month old?! You hear stories about mortgage offers being withdrawn after exchange due to searches or new credit being taken out between exchange and completion but this can't be the case as they are always looking at at least month old data. Just can't believe that in this day we aren't relying on real time data!

Thank you Keezing; the copy and paste of the T's & C's is really helpful - I was very surprised myself that the Giffgaff report refreshed daily. I like your idea tho' of registering for call credit on the 1st & then Giffgaff on the 15th.

Try it for yourself tho' if you don't believe me? Register for Giffgaff , go on the MSE website, click on the credit card eligibility link, enter your details etc. & it will generate a soft search footprint (which does not impact your score of course). .

Log onto the Giffgaff report a day or 2 later and you will see the soft search.

Wait a day or 2 then repeat all of the above - you will see a new soft search. If the Giffgaff report wasn't refreshing regularly you wouldn't see the soft searches in 'real time' as it were - the report would be frozen on the anniversary of the date of the month you first registered.

    Not sure what you mean.

Just because Noddle updates once a month for its customers doesn't mean banks don't have access to more up-to-date data.

Banks don't use Noddle or GiffGaff. They use the CRA directly.
