Halifax Mortgage

Hi Guys,

This is my first post on here.

Myself and my partner are currently in the process of buying a house. Our first mortgage got declined by TSB before valuation.

We are now using Halifax. The house was valued on Thursday. I'm assuming everything went fine. Anybody have an idea of how long it may take to get an offer.

Thanks,
Sean

    Hi and welcome,

I presume you were approved by Halifax in principle/ subject to valuation before the valuation was instructed?

Banks should do this otherwise you are paying for a valuation when you might not be approved based on your income etc!

Valuations usually only take a few days to get to the bank so you should know by Tuesday or Wednesday next week if you call them. To get a written offer takes a week or so more.
  • Hi,

Yes we had an offer in principle initially. They had all of the relevant paperwork straight away and only came back to ask for my new P60

  • Hi BF,

Really fast turnaround for yourself. We are hoping to hear something either today or tomorrow.

What area of the country do you live in and also are you using a MA?

Yeah we were amazed how fast it went from valuation to offer.

Yes we were / are using Halifax own MA and going direct not using broker. She actually said the mortgage got issued just before 5pm Friday afternoon but she didn't have time to tell us till Saturday morning.

We're in Oxfordshire, you should hear something pretty soon I would think.

Ours took about about 2 weeks from application to offer , we had our valuation about a week after ,application they called our broker to say it had been signed off subject to valuation , had our valuation on a tuesday and recieved our offer a week later on thursday..it went back to the underwriters to be signed off.there was a bank holiday in between...we are based in the southwest just outside of bath if that helps :)

We had our valuation on a Thursday and had received the offer in the post on Monday. We used a broker and she was great, going back to them and getting a better deal than that originally offered.

Our val was instructed the same day the app went in, drive-by valuation took place this morning and I've just had a call to say we've got the offer. App to offer in 4 working days. Thanks to our brilliant broker and his advice.
  • Hi Guys,

Just another quick update for you all.

We received the mortgage offer today and everything is coming in the post to us.

    Hey Guys,

I am in the process of buying house from Halifax.
we have our valuation completed on 12th and they our file was pulled for a random audit which has been cleared on 26th. Then the file went to credit team after who had cleared the documents on 05/05. The documents are now with the underwriter and I am worried sick that the offer might be declined based on affordability or any other issue.(PS note we have excellent credit)
