Thanks both.
I don't like bananas but will try anything, think I could manage them covered in custard, will that count?
I will also look into Qunoa, never tried it. Gin is a good suggestion might knock me out for the night so the cramps don't wake me.0 -
I get cramp a lot, even had to take off a shoe and massage my foot while I was meeting friends this morning. My doctor said have 1 tonic water every evening to stop cramp and he also said the gin was optional. Hope that helps. When I forget I get wakened at night as well.0

Thank I will get some tonic water and bananas tomorrow.
I don't like tonic water either
(perhaps that why I get cramps, I don't seem to like any of the natural remedies
) at least with that it will be easy to disguise the taste. 0 -
It's quinine that is in tonic water.
I wouldn't bother with the quinoa!
I find my asthma inhaler gives me foot cramp at night.Norn Iron Club member 4730 -
Calcium and magnesium supplements help as their deficiency can cause crampsally.0

Magnesium might be helpful. However it could be down to how you handle your emotions ie blocking/repressing them which is affecting the liver energy. This occurs in people who repress the expression of sadness and anger and can be the cause of many "womens" problems. Relaxing the liver can be helpful which is why magnesium can have some effect but a more targetted approach can have greater effect if simply increasing magnesium intake does not solve it. Try some magnesium rich foods. You could also try some magnesium supplementation if it becomes difficult getting sufficient in food.

OMG! I never normally believe in that kind of thinking. But that is so right that is what is happening with me right now and the cramp has happened since then.0 -
There you go. Problem partly solved. Now you need to address it.iammumtoone wrote: »OMG! I never normally believe in that kind of thinking. But that is so right that is what is happening with me right now and the cramp has happened since then.
I was going to go into where this all comes from but it is a bit out of place here. Just to say that it comes from early childhood and what parents say to their children. Most parents get it wrong and by getting it wrong, promote things like stress, anxiety and depression by not challenging past ideas and beliefs, instead passing on past mistakes.
In the short term taking something which relaxes your liver should help. Trying magnesium might help, it is quite a deficient and essential mineral involved in over 300 processes in the human body.
Chamomile tea could be helpful as it works on the lungs and liver meridians but it's effect is not that strong. Tiny tea bags will probably not be enough. Getting loose chamomile and brewing a strong tea pot or boiling/simmering some in some in a pan might be better.
There are stronger things, some of which I use myself but they need to be used carefully.
Something to relax you. Relaxation tapes or CD's, music and focus on your right arms and feeding back what you experience, noticing the relaxation in whatever way is most appropriate to you. Be it noticing the feelings or sensations or seeing some sense of relaxation. Your primary sense is what has the greatest effect on you be it touch ie feeling or sight are the most common.
Applying several strategies such as relaxation, increasing magnesium as well as chamomile tea should have the greatest effect. Trying that before looking at anything stronger is probably best. Deep relaxation can have a strong effect and helps the mind function better which could help you get over the emotional issue that caused the problem. Many, many years ago I got a cassette tape, do you remember those?, from my doctor which introduced me to deep relaxation and how pleasant it can be. There are many different types of relaxation, meditation and self hypnosis with self hypnosis being the fastest after you learn how to do it. I moved on to self hypnosis and could go into a trance while walking down the street. It only took seconds to enter a trance and within a minute I could be in a deep trance and experience very deep relaxation. There are CD's and probably Mp3 downloads, some free and others paid.
Deep relaxation has anti ageing effects and improves the function of the body and mind.0
