Where to buy castor oil?

Other than online.
I've been using it to help thicken up my hair and encourage it to grow after I lost half of it. I bought my first bottle online but ideally I don't want to purchase it again online - not a huge fan of online shopping. I've seen it in holland and Barrett but it was expensive. I've heard that boots have stopped selling it but I don't know how true that is.

It's almost impossible to get at a chemist these days. I have no idea why.

Do you go to France at all? All the pharmacies there sell it in small bottles for a couple of Euro (labelled as 'ricin')

I mix it 50/50 with another oil. I personally use coconut oil so that I have to warm it up before I can use it otherwise I forget to warm up my oil. I then use an applicator bottle to apply to my scalp and leave it on overnight before washing it out the next morning. By mixing it, it's easier to remove the next morning as pure castor oil is sticky and thick.

Thanks. I don't really get to go to France, but I'll try Germany next time I'm there.
Can anyone recommend any good online sites to purchase castor oil that aren't eBay or amazon?

I remember getting a small bottle from my local chemist back in 2002 to encourage my labour to start.

It's probably not allowed now so just checking I see Morrison's have Ayumi Pure castor oil at £2.97 for 150ML

It's gone tea time so safe to tell, I was on the toilet most of the evening, baby didn't move but other stuff did!

Ayumi have a web site wwwayuuri.co.uk

Why not eBay or Amazon? To be honest, you probably have more online protection through either of them. If you go for a "Fulfilled by Amazon" product then you should be pretty safe with it, if you're worried about buying from random strangers, as this means Amazon buys it and resells themselves (and they're very fussy - we sell to them at work)

Otherwise, see if your local pharmacy can order you some in on special order.
  • I've managed to buy it in the pharmacy at Sainsbury's and at most independent pharmacies. You do have to ask at the counter, it's not sold from the shop floor
  • You can get it from pharmacies and Ayurveda stores.
