Placement funding (university)

My son is on placement from university. (We were not claiming student finance for this year) We have received an invoice asking for almost £2000 to pay for placement. Do we claim this through student finance? If so does anyone know what form to download. I'm finding it hard to find it as different rules/forms apply depending on where you are ie England, Scotland etc.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

This seems to say that you can get a loan to cover it. It doesn't specify how, so I guess it would be through the normal online application process.0 -
If your son is from N.Ireland which I assume is the case then yes follow above link. Universities normally still charge fees for placement years to cover their Admin etc. Ring them on 0300 100 0077 if you need advice0

The university charges 50% fees for the placement year.
This is because they call out once or twice during the year to check on the students progress.
You are entitled to a student loan for this year if you need it0
