Has anyone had a purchase a property appointment with HSBC? Just wondering what it involves etc ? What do they ask ?
All I keep seeing is bad reviews about hsbc.

I had nothing but positive things to say about my HSBC mortgage application. I did it online, but it was simple enough, easy to keep track of what was happening, if something was unclear, I called them and got to talk to somebody that could actually answer my question, etc.
Underwriters had some questions, rang me in the morning, were very friendly and helpful while dealing with their queries and 3 hours later the mortgage had been approved.
Whole things went very fast and smoothly. I have read that people doing the application through First Direct are less positive about the experience, maybe because there's a middleman in the process?
Compared to HSBC, my original application with Nationwide was a nightmare and even after initially offering me a mortgage, Nationwide pulled their offer because they changed their internal criteria concerning non-UK income without so much as a 'sorry', even though it lost me several hundred Pounds.0 -
First Direct is problematic as its all telephone based with tracking happening via calls
HSBC is modernised so can track online etc etc.
Both are picky but ALWAYS have the very best rates out there0 -
Great rates, very quick process.
Poor customer service though0 -
...when/where they want to lend that is.FIRSTTIMER wrote: »First Direct is problematic as its all telephone based with tracking happening via calls

Thank you all, the last time I got a mortgage was ten years ago and sold that property a few years back. It's all changed since then.0

What bad reviews have you seen? The HSBC advances some £12 billion of mortgage funding every year. If they were terrible you'd expect to find thousands of negative comments.0
