Someone set up a GoFundMe page to PAY a UKPC parking ticket - what a waste...

War veteran aged 95 has decided he has to PAY a NHS Trust fake 'PCN' that the NHS Trust/UKPC should have cancelled:

http://www.newsandstar.co.uk/news/War-veterans-parking-fine-for-over-running-Carlisle-hospital-appointment-60650a4d-4ccc-480b-97d4-8ef07c129c37-ds

Words fail me about that article - local churnalism in alarmist/wrong mode:

''If he did go to court and lose, he risks having to pay UKPC's legal costs and extra charges which could run into thousands of pounds.''

Than - even worse - I read the comments at the end and looked at the GoFundMe page and they have actually decided to PAY UKPC instead of complaining to the NHS Trust for disregarding the Government policy.

So simple to cancel this one, what a waste of money. UKPC deserve to be named and shamed for this but almost worse is the pack mentality of people who actually think this has to be paid.

OMG.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

A spokeswoman for North Cumbria University Hospitals Trust said: “UK Parking Control (UKPC) were brought in to manage the safety and security of everyone who uses our hospital sites.

Sorry to be blunt and seemingly uncaring, but I can't get the adage 'There's no fool like an old fool' out of my mind.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Can the Prankster (who I think is quite busy right now) or someone from the BMPA get hold of the journalist to do a follow up piece on how this chap can defend his case properly using the information here and on Pepipoo? Seems a good opportunity to get more knowledge out there possibly.

    Probably from UKPC's "meeja" department.

I suspect he has read the letter where it says something along the lines of "we may attempt to recover our costs" and without any further investigation assumed litigation costs thousands due to the use of barristers (like he/she has seen on TV) ... very lazy journalism indeed. Time permitting I may try and get in touch ...

I blame Judge Rinder. Why does he not hear parking cases? It seems to be all about mothers suing sons, sons suing mothers siblings suing siblings, and vets suing everyone. With the camp judge shouting at everyone.

Im not familiiar with Judge Rinder, however the comments section on the news article could do with an upate, i haven't got an account with that newspaper group.
If possible someone on there should be pointed here - on reply states that they know the pensioner involved.
with the correct advice the hospital should be a pushover and this thing should be canceled without any money flowing into the coffers of the parking company
