getmore4less is spot on.
You need money for works - boiler/damp etc.
You need money for loss of income, usually this would be covered by income protection. It would cover you for illness beyond your sick pay. £20 a month would normally mean a payout for a grand or so (although that is dependent on age, health, ocucpation etc).
