Help! Can I freeze a chocolate roulade?

Hi I have had this delivered in my shopping. I want to eat it on the 17th and it goes out of date on the 15th. It's for a special meal so I wanted to check with all of you knowledgeable people :D to see if I can freeze it until Monday morning and then eat it that evening. Thanks for any help x

    Is it fresh cream?
    If not - no dairy products to go 'off' then I would just keep it.
    If it is fresh cream, then I would try freezing it, for these reasons;
    I wouldn't serve 'out of date' dairy to guests, so I can't use it anyway. If I freeze it, it will almost certainly be fine, if not, I've lost nothing.
    I would have a back-up plan though, in case it collapses, and I would have something handy - sprinkles or a bar of chocolate that can be grated, or some fruit to decorate it if it looks a bit sad.

    That is assuming you can't do some sort of return? I do almost no on-line grocery shopping, so don't know the rules.

    It is my own fault to be honest. it says on the item when I ordered it that it would only have a two day shelf life but I didn't notice that (I was more impressed that it was half price!). It is fresh cream and ganache. I don't see what could go wrong with freezing it and as you say I have nothing to lose. I will freeze it and keep my finger's crossed. Thank you for some reassurance.

    If it is ganache, then I think what may happen is you'll get a white 'bloom' on the surface (from the cocoa butter freezing & defrosting) which really doesn't affect the taste or texture - but that is exactly when you might want a bit of decoration. I suggest:
    squirty cream (if you're likely to use it, it keeps for ages in the fridge)
    drizzled melted chocolate
    drizzled 'coulis' (bought in a squeezy bottle, also keeps for ages)
    chocolate shavings
    classiest will be coulis + white choc shavings

    You can tell I've done a few 'rescues' in my time!

    I'd also suggest slow defrosting

    Hoping you'll tell us how it went - you should have seen my rescue of a magnificent hummingbird cake this weekend. I made a complete *£$%&*of the frosting and ended up getting the kids to strew fruit over the top. All got eaten!

    Got it out to eat tonight and we're too full to eat it! Will have it at lunchtime tomorrow and I will let you know.

    Just to report - ate half of it last night and it was lovely. Didn't need any additions as it tasted fine. Got the other half to eat tonight so hopefully will still be as nice.
