  • There are other mortgages that are a better deal. For example nationwide 2 year fixed without a fee is 1.59%.
    It is important take one out without a product fee, since that fee given your level of mortgage is always going to be higher than the additional interest.

    Rough calculation, ignoring compound interest and the fact that you mortgage is going down and hence the monthly interest:
    84000 × 0.0139 × 2 + 999 = £3334
    84000 × 0.0169 × 2 = £2839
    84000 × 0.0159 × 2 = £2671

    I think the real figures are going to be even mow in favour of no fee.
