Work from home jobs?

Options
I am a carer for my son ( he has Autism and some Mental Health issues) and really need to get back into work as i need a full time income.
He will be finishing school soon too, and the chances of him being able to cope with a job is very small.

So i'm trying to think of a work from home job that we can both do together, so we can both earn an income.

He is really into numbers and maths, while my history is in dealing with the public.

Any ideas for WAH jobs that we could do?

On a non-self employed basis, very unlikely. On a self-employed basis, maybe you could look into book keeping? You do the marketing, customer focus role and he doesn't the number crunching?

FBaby- yes i was thinking about self employed, forgot to say that.

I don't know much about book keeping, so will look into that, thank you.
I guess the main cost there will be the qualifications for that.

    quals, experience and portfolio.

For some reason bookeeping is perceived as a cookie-cutter role, do this course and you'll land a job, doesnt work like that at all.

Going self employed route with no experience whatsoever with so much competition (remember everyone and their dog is doing a course for the guaranteed job/work) would be very very tough.

Not being negative just realistic, because almost everytime a thread comes up asking 'What should I do?' (not just on this forum), you are guarantee to be told book-keeping.

How about looking into buying and selling? ~Amazon, ebay, your own website etc, re branding Chinese rubbish and selling it seems to be pretty big right now.

work from home opportunities are 95% scams or lies though, if you want to work from home then you have to be self employed.

    Thanks for the reality check.

Buying and selling really isnt my thing to be honest, plus i like interacting with actual people, so would not enjoy an ebay/amazon thing.

I have heard that you can make some money by writing ebook novels/novellas. Might look into that. My son really likes writing too, so maybe thats something we can do together.

I really do need to come up with an idea for the both of us, as my son doesnt do well when he is left without motivation, and we need more money.

Writing books could be a possibility but i doubt you'd make a stable income from it but maybe it would be good for your son to write book/s probably based on his experiences etc, maybe a blog too.

I dont have any ideas but you seem to be looking to provide a service rather than selling things so focus on service providing.

And with that, there is nothing wrong with doing a basic bookkeeping course to manage your own financial affairs, Thats a practical reason for doing it, i just wouldnt do it expecting guaranteed self-employed work at the end of it.

What about becoming a Virtual Assistant? You'd need decent excel etc skills but nothing you can't teach Yourself.

What about dog walking? Or a service feeding people's cats/rabbits etc while their away and sitting with them for a bit. Depending how good your son is at maths could he tutor high school students?
Can you sew? You could offer alterations? I can't think of many jobs from home than can support 2 people. My partner is a self employed graphic designer and he only earns enough to support himself.
