Good Morning Everybody,
Another typical overcast Bank Holiday weekend. I always used to feel guilty about not having super adventures at every long weekend/school holiday, but, I am not sure if it's age, or apathy, but I am really looking forward to a weekend of jammies, sewing things I may be able to sell (I do not know what yet) and not an ounce of make up! lol
So old timers, share your pride of not doing anything "consumerised," what are your old style plans this weekend?

I was thinking yesterday what a pleasure it is to have a long weekend of not having much to do. I will take Scottie dog for a little walk to the local castle grounds. Then sometime this weekend will feed some of the garden plants that need extra fuss, always hoping they will then decide to grow like beanstalks.
Tomorrow (free electricity day) will do some baking - jammy biscuits, cheesecake, and will start making a multi-jellied trifle for when the DGKs visit on Monday.
If it's warm enough on Monday we will bbq, as it gets the DGKs outside to help. Otherwise, just puttering around the house and village will keep me busy and happy.
Hope other OSers will have a peaceful weekend too.0 -
Me too......a nice peaceful weekend.
The Easter chocolates have been purchased, the freezer and fridge are well stocked. I'm all set.
The weather forecast is a bit disappointing so I'm not bothered about going out, the roads will be choc a bloc and the shops will be crowded. Ugh who needs it.
Spending time with the family - one meal out and a trip to the cinema planned for one evening but over than that just some gentle pottering.
Another round of decluttering, gardening, baking, reading, watching a few nice films.
Bliss.......0 -
We just had our bedroom decorated and so I have just put up the curtains and the picture and the clock on the wall. I'm looking forward to sleeping in a nice freshly painted room tonight.
I will be reading, doing some housework and cooking some yummy meals over the weekend. Not going out anywhere and just relaxing at home.:A0 -
It's sunny, but a bit nippy, here on the South coast. Bought bread and stuff that can be turned into sandwiches earlier this morning - and I've made up two rounds of tomato sandwiches in a sandwich box in case I want to grab them and run somewhere..... but I won't.
It's a free ancestry weekend, so I'll just pump data into that and see if it yields a glimmer of a clue around the many brick walls in my tree.
I've everything I need, I could go out - but it'll be bunged with people, so no point ..... I might still go out, if the mood takes me, but I doubt it.0 -
Bank Holidays have long since been designated by me as a time for catch-up (catch-up paperwork, catch-up gardening, etc, etc) as so much of what is on offer to do on bank holidays is family-oriented. Add now that I'm in a part of the country that is so strongly family-oriented (:(
as far as single people are concerned)......and even worse public transport than normal (so trips to "somewhere nice" have to be done on days that arent Bank Holidays or Sundays).
So - for this weekend - it's going to be gardening and more gardening and generally dealing with things in the intermission between one set of work on the house (new kitchen) and the next set of work on the house (some decorating). Plus a bit of catch-up tv watching.
So - no "consuming" here - apart from the weekly shop tomorrow as per normal.0 -
Chilled weekend here too - bit of gardening, baking etc meeting up with friends and just spending time together.
Saw the news yesterday with tailbacks for hours.... they can keep itLike Dorothy said 'there's no place like home' :rotfl:
Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!
£300/£1300 -
I'm planning some gardening - I've got tomatoes to repot, some planters in my front garden to clean and refill, and some general pottering to do. I also plan to tackle my Instant Pot. I bought one fairly recently but to be honest, it scares me a bit so I'm determined to get my head around it this weekend! And there's some knitting that needs finishing ...0

Happy holidays everyone
This is my favourite time of year, it feels like the real new year to me.
If the weather picks up we'll likely got out for a run on the motorbike and explore, otherwise it's pottering about at home, reading, film and a bit of drawing / crafting. We had the family last long-weekend so it's going to be a quiet one for us.
It's my birthday on Sunday but I want no dinners out, cake or chocolate - what I want is to lose a few more pounds weight0 -
I am making some cloth shopping bags to be sold on a cat charity stall in June. My neighbour has donated a box full of ornaments, pots, vases, etc, these I will sort out and wash ready for sale.
It is raining and I have plenty to do indoors. Happy holidays.

We'll be breaking up and removing some decking - far simpler than retreating it and constantly fighting to keep it clean and non-slippy.
Then rejigging the grow bags for bumper tomato crops (fingers crossed).
Sunday will be spent overloading on chocolate after giving it up for lent.
:EasterBun
Perfect.
