Finding a broker

Hi
So I've made a few posts here (thank you for everyone's input!) I've also come to the conclusion that it would be best to go with a broker. Question is how do you choose? No family/friends have used so no personal recommendation. One in our town charges a percentage of the mortgage amount and also up front fee (£100). Does this sound acceptable. No idea if they are any good but safe to assume they know WAY more than I do about mortgages. Hopefully our situation is an easy one? Joint income £70k, only debt lease car at £289 per month (have just settled everything else!), no adverse, no late payments etc would like to borrow £350 and putting down deposit of £310. Existing lender is Nationwide, was just going to go with them but affordability calculator seems to change its mind each time (thought I was inputting the same each time but maybe not! Hence probable need for broker!) Nationwide calculator (latest attempt) says £350k I feel this is cutting it fine.
Dont suppose any of the lovely brokers on here want any work?!

IMO best to go for brokers that don't charge up front fees and only on mortgage offer, that way they have an interest in getting you an offer than pay up front and not being able to.
Make sure you don't get one through the estate agents, guess who pays for the commission"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"
