16 yr old apprenticeship effects on parents benefits

Hi first time posting i have a 15 yr old who is sitting exams this summer. We are looking into different options she has been accepted for a level 2 course at college . Today we looked at apprentships to give her more choice , i am disabled and receive pip both parts and esa income based . The apprentship is paid 140 for 40 hrs a week and course ran by learn direct. Would like advice on how this would effect the money coming in for me and my other 2 children :j

I'd say that any child related benefits would stop for the 16 year old and she would then be able to pay keep out of her wage. If staying on in college then nothing would change

As far as I know benefits stop as the apprentice is paid a wage of which they should be able to contribute to their keep, you should still receive benefits for your other 2 if they are younger.

I hope that the choice is dictated by what is best for her, and not what is best for your benefits? If she is able to perform academically, then further and higher education are still the route to wider career choice, and don't rule out apprenticeships in the future. If she isn't a lover of academia, then an apprenticeship is probably a good route, but equally it wouldn't rule out her going back to education in the future. Many 16 year olds are not ready to make huge life choices, so any option that keeps her options as open and as wide as possible would be best for her. And if she's going to work 40 hours a week, that is going to be a major shock to her! Few people of her age have ever done anything for 40 hours, never mind every week!
