Re-mortgaging and moving home

Hi, my current fixed mortgage deal comes to an end in the next 3 months and we are looking to move home in the next 18 months. I'm unsure whether to refix a deal or move onto a tracker rate, as I've heard there could be fees associated with transferring a fixed rate mortgage when moving home. Any helpful advice much appreciated! Thanks

You'll have to look at each deal and work out the specifics for you, there are no generic answers since also some deals will also be portable and some wont.
It might be easier though just to pick a deal with low or no arrangement fee and minimal ERC, so you are not locked in to your then current provider for what might be a wholly different loan in terms of LTV etc.

There is no telling if the best remortgage offer now is going to be offered by the lender with the best purchase offer next year.

If you can get an ERC-free tracker, take it. Then you will be able to get the best deal on your purchase from any/all lenders next time.
