Level Transfer - should I do it?

I have been with my current company for just over a year having moved after a 10 year stint in another firm.

The role is something I have not done before, but the skills from my previous job were easily transferable. The first 6 months were very much a learning curve and the following 6 months have been about doing the job well and bringing in process changes which have been making a difference.

I have been asked if I would consider moving from current team to another team within the department . The role would be very similar but also expose me more to the wider business. They want me to look at bringing in similar process changes. The thing is I don't think I have finished the job in my current role, there is lots ongoing and things I want to do.

I have ambitions on promotion (this move would be a level transfer), but it would expose me to more of the business and prove I can apply in a slightly different area, which would look good when going for promotion.I want my next job to be a promotion!

The thing is I am not sure if I am ready, in my head I had a job to do in my current team and I want to finish it. I also get on really well with my current team and I would have to network build all over again.

The question is should I stay and see the job through and get very good results or move across as invited to do so ( I do have a choice), which would look better, I would worry in the new role I would not have enough time to finish what I started again before looking for that internal promotion.

Advise would be most welcome :)

Is there anyone in your current team who you feel could be promoted to carry on the work you have been doing? If there is you could recommend that to your bosses and make the move yourself, which from the sound of it would be beneficial for your future career.

The other way to look at it is that your bosses are hopefully aware of what you have done and what is not yet complete, and are still prepared to offer you the move, so the responsibility for the old team moves to them anyway.
