Anything which requires a hard credit search which will leave a footprint on your credit file visible to lenders searching you.

You would need to establish that from whoever you plan to use.

Thanks, a quick search says Esure do a soft credit check to confirm identity so should be okay.
  • Get a second hand/free couch.

Once you have decided on the decoration consider a newer one by saving up.

When we moved into our first house we bought inflatable couch + 2 'chairs/seats' from Argos - think it set us back about £30 at the time (12 years ago).

They were a wicked electric blue colour but served a purpose until our order of 'permanent' furniture arrived.

I think you need to quote all of sultanabran's sentence, not just that bit!

"Where will you put the couch if you take on new credit, your mortgage provider does another credit check before completion and then withdraws your mortgage offer?"

He was insinuating that you would have no house to put said couch in, due to your lender withdrawing from the deal because you had credit agreement that they were unaware of. Nothing to do with delivery times!!

Thanks for everyones input, very much appreciated. Harveys have an option where you can pay a deposit and pay the remainder 9 days before delivery so this was fine for me.
