Food for long haul flight

its only an 11hr flight. How much would you normally eat in 11 hours if you were sat in a chair.
I have been on many (over 20) long haul flights and I cant say I have been any more hungry flying than being at home.
Eat a warm meal at services on the way to the airport to save money and take advantage of the food on-board the plane. Its not great food but its edible and breaks up the flight.0 -
While annoying - especially if you're sitting next to somebody well prepared - the bottom line is that you could go without food ...because you know you will eat, soon, just not now. It's not as if you're penniless and there's a military coup on and the shops are empty anyway and you've not eaten for 3 days and have seen 5 people die from not eating in the past week.
Rather than trying to keep yourself well fed, I'd go down the route of "least food/hassle" knowing I'd be eating at the journey's end. You can then justify eating crisps and sweeties as your chosen food en route.0 -
From memory anything with seeds in will get you in trouble at the US border. Just make sure you have eaten all your food before you land and you shouldn't have a problem.
If it was me if have a nice site down meal at the airport and maybe buy a boots meal deal to have later on the plane.0 -

If you are totally against eating at the airport before flying and the meal allowance wouldn't cover it, I'd eat either porridge or an egg based breakfast before leaving home, which will leave you fuller for longer and then buy the sandwich deal which will cost £3-£4 to supplement the airport food.
Each time I've been to America, the air stewards come round with a bag to throw any food away in, before you land. Unless this procedure has stopped over the past couple of years, there's no reason for you to still have food on you that isn't allowed.0
