Is The Country Living On Credit?

I'm baffled here and hope someone can let me in on the secret, Let me explain,

I'm not in a well paid job, I come home with £200 a wk, theres 4 of us at work.
  • Myself I have 2 kids and rent a house and my wife is on min wage
  • Guy 2 owns his house, has 2 cars, 2 children and wife does not work
  • Guy 3 owns his house, has 2 cars, no children and wife working.
  • Guy 4 Lives at home, has a car.
Now we all get paid the same yet in all I am the worse off out of all of us, I rent as can't get a mortgage, never had a holiday, and at the end of the week theres no money left by the time bills are paid etc.

Guy 4 for example has a 42" Plama TV in his bedroom, Guy 2 had a 52" LCD TV and also has a BMW, Guy 3 has 2 cars and 2 motorbikes, these guys also go on holiday every year somewhere foreign.

Us on the other hand have an old CRT TV and drive a knackered Astra, we have nothing of any value.

So why is it:confused: We have nothing and these other guys have everything, Guy 2 for example has just built a new 4 bedroom detached bungalow, I sware everything I have said is true, are these people just living on credit?? If not can someone let me into the secret please??

I believe that this country is living on credit, and if something happens to stop that (ie Northern Rock type stuff) then we're slightly knackered.

Having said that, Guy 4 is living at home so his bills are probably miniscule next to yours (parents are suckers).
  • Have you tried checking to see if you can claim any benefits??

They are probably either using credit cards, re-mortgaging, finance for the car, buy now pay 12 months for the TV etc etc.

Yeah I checked but no all we get is tax credit and child benefit, I assume they have to be living on credit, theres no other way around it.

Maybe some of these guys had a golden ticket .
Parent dies leaving them either House or cash lump sum to subsidise there salary.
or If they have owned a house for some time there mortgage may be only half your present rent.

It depends on how well you play the benefit and tax systems as well.

  • It might be hard sometimes but you should not compare yourself to others. It just gets depressing and as other have said you do not know how these people fund their lifestyle.

I always think of the moneysaving as not how much money you earn but how you spend it.

I would rather go on holiday than have a fancy TV. And I would rather have my independence than live at home.
