Mortgage after Trust Deed

My husband had a trust deed registered in July 2011 and was discharged in May 2016. I know 6 years after the registered date this will drop off his credit history and should improve our chances of getting a mortgage. Are there any lenders who we can get a mortgage with before July? Nationwide already declined us in January. He also has a default (now satisfied) in August 2011. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Most lenders (nationwide included) go off the date of discharge rather than the date of registration. So most lenders would not accept you for between 2 and 5 years next month.

    Some lenders will work off the registration date and some will accept you once discharged for 12 months but your options at normal rates are very limited.

    I do not really do north of the border due to the different processes you have so I am not the most knowledgeable when it comes to trust deeds, but I do think this is one of those where it would be a good idea to use a broker.
