Home Insurance at what stage?

Home Insurance is an additional obligation in my mortgage offer letter by Halifax.
It makes perfect sense that I have to insure the home from contract exchange date and its a common condition for most lenders if its not all.
I have just started the conveyancing journey, not even started the searches.
However in the most recent letter from solicitor, mentioned that I need to send them the insurance policy to review whether that's within the lenders acceptance criteria.
- Generally at what point, I need to get the home insurance?
- Isn't it Solicitors indicate us that milestone, presumably after defining the contract exchange date?
- In most of home insurance comparison websites, we can only take insurance up to 30 days in advance. My main concern is we just started the process, what's the hurry of getting the home insurance at this stage?
I understand this is rather a question I have to ask from solicitors. However I thought its good to understand the common/ general practice before contacting them. thanks.

at exchange of contract you need home insurance, your solicitors just giving a standard reply perhaps, you could clarify by getting in touch, but too early to get homeinsurance"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"
