HELP -new! credit score help

Sorry if this has been posted somewhere, however, i cannot seem to find anything on this.

I am a student, and i did the free trial credit report and was ridiculously shocked to find out my credit score was 450!! I have no idea how it can be, i have a phone contract which has always been paid on time, however, i am currently talking my phone company over to court as they are claiming i haven't paid, when i have.

I have one credit card, which the balance is now zero as i have paid everything off!

I have no loans, of any kind

Helppp!!

Also, what can i do to improve my score?

xx

Are you on the electoral roll? Are you in rented accomodation? have you moved a lot?

What is listed against your record with the phone company?

If you have never had credit and have very few accounts in your name, you can earn a lot, pay on time and still have a naff credit record.

  • I live with my Mum, and we have lived here for about 7 years. I have no idea if i'm on the electoral roll but i shall find out.

Basically the phone company said i haven't paid, when i have, it's some error with their payment online thing, however they're saying, well it says on my report that i'm at least six payments late which i'm clearly not.

    Thanks for your help!!

Your credit record will be shot at the moment, but I think that the phone company should not be listing late payments when it is in dispute. Ring the credit reference agency and ask them what you can do.

if you have proof of the payments, then write to the Complaints Department, with photocopies and tell them to put it straight, as they are legally obliged under the DPA to ensure that any information they give other people is correct.

If they do not sort it promptly (say 30 days) report them to the Information Commissioner.
