Mortgage payment continue after completion

Help, our house move completed on the 13th September. The sale of the flat paid off the mortgage and we started a new mortgage for the new house. On checking our bank statements we see that the Woolwich has continued to take the mortgage payment for the flat on the 17th even though surely this account would have been settled on completion? I phoned the mortgage help line and through a very bad line I tried to explain this to the guy on the phone, I dont think he could hear me either and basically fobbed me off with something like it takes a week or so for things to sort out. (!) I did give up because the line was so bad but should I call them back or is this correct?

It sounds like there wasn't time to cancel the DD and is quite common when remortgaging etc.
Usually what happens is the money will be refunded to your account.A pain I know but that's the banking system for you !0
