    Well, AP may have been an option but;
    1) Is it really good value ? I lied on the calculator, saying I am 59, not 60 (otherwise I don't think payments are made until I reach 65) and opted to buy £5k worth of pension. Cost was £99,600. That's a 20 year payback - a huge lengthening considering AP rates a few years back.
    2) I am currently absent from work (managed to bust my femur a couple of months back. I would have been returning this month but with taking up a redundancy offer we agreed it wasn't worthwhile). But should this matter ? lots of people I am sure may be absent from time to time.
