Advice for friend

I am in need of some for advice for my friend.

She was MARRIED to a MAN and they brought a house together. The HUSBAND took a loan out without CONSENT of wife as he was a CONTROLLING, ABUSIVE MAN and she didn't or wasn't allowed much of a say in things. Apparently the house they was in was the guarantee against this loan.

The HUSBAND didn't pay any bills as was too busy having an affair and they lost their house, this is going back about 12 years ago.

Thank God my friend managed to escape and leave the marriage but HE set up up in so much debt . She is paying a small loan off that he put her in. He is nowhere to be seen and because he had other business traits she doesn't want him to know where her or the children live ( she won full custody via court)

The loan company keep writing to her asking for FULL amount to be paid but no way can she do it or feels she should as she DID NOT AGREE TO ANY OF THIS and most likely he FORGED her signature like the other loans.

The letter said she will be having a visit from the debt company

Is there anything she can do ? She is so worried

She needs to ADVISE the LOAN companies of the FRAUD. This may also need her to REPORT it to the POLICE.

HOWEVER, depending on how LONG ago this was, her chances may be SLIM.

So even if SHE never signed paperwork to AGREE to loan and because HE was so convincing ( fooled a lot) will she be held liable?

Friend has no faith in police as on separate issue he was reported for abusive with a minor and got away with it as it was his FIRST offence

She NEEDS to report it as FRAUD. Otherwise she WILL DEFINITELY be chased for the DEBT.

Is this a 12 year old loan? When last did she pay towards it or acknowledge it?

Search the forum for information on a "prove it" letter and send it to see if the lender has a credit agreement in her name.

Tell them she is not prepared to talk to them and will only communicate in writing. Keep copies of everything she sends and receives.

Wow. I've heard it all now.

The issue she is likely to have is that if she has been paying the debt (to some extent) for 12 years, why is she only now stating it is fraud? It's not like she hasn't known about it for a while.

There's absolutely no NEED to SHOUT.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.
