Too soon to chase?

Just looking for some opinions on this one! I am currently employed full time but looking elsewhere for other opportunities. I applied for a job at a university and the closing date was Sunday just gone. There is an online tracking system and since Tuesday it has said 'Shortlisting in Progress'.
Now normally I wouldn't even think about chasing so soon after the closing date, but the job ad said that interviews would take place on Wednesday 12th April, next week. As I am currently in a full time job, I will need to organise time away to attend an interview if I'm lucky enough to get one, so as much notice as possible is helpful.
With that in mind, would it be too soon to drop a (polite!) email to the HR team to see if they knew when shortlisting will complete? I'm half thinking at this point I haven't got an interview and they just haven't updated the system, but you never know I guess!

I suspect your thinking may be right, as they aren't giving you much time to make arrangements if they tell you after today. Rather than emailing I would probably ring them, I know at the university where I work there are a lot of people on holiday just now so it could take a while for an email to be noticed and replied to.0

Sounds like good advice, thanks!0

I have an interview at a university in a couple of weeks. I had given up on it as I hadn't heard back for 3 weeks after the closing date but they, eventually, contacted me to say I had been chosen for interview. The interview date wasn't mentioned in the job ad though.
I'd ring them to find out. Fingers crossed.0
