Mercers/Barclaycard

Hello

After three months and Barclaycard passing my debt onto Mercers we have finally agreed an amount to cover the debt but only verbally i.e. telephone. Mercers will not confirm this offer in writing despite my request and insist that it will be "legally and binding" and marked "Satisfed in Full". National Debtline say that they should do this by letter but they insist they "don't do that" and that the verbal agreement is sufficient. Has anyone else come across this and if so, has it been okay?

    National Debtline are dead right.

The only way you can be sure Mercers won't go back on their so called "verbal agreement", is to get it in writing. If you don't then Mercers will almost certainly go back on their word and deny any agreement. They have done this to several people I've heard about if memory serves.

The "they don't do that" is absolute rubbish as they do and will if you stick to your guns.

    Hello my lovely!

The fact that they keep refusing - when it would be easier just to send you a letter to the effect that you want - would worry me.

I would definitely trust the word of National Debtline over that of a collections agency.

Can the ND kick their @r$es for you? or maybe the CAB could use their clout to help you?

These DCA's are evil aren't they?

    Love Jacks xxx :D
