Another SIPP Question!

We opened a SIPP with HL for my wife in March paid in £2880. She asked for her tax free amount to be paid with the remainder going into Drawdown and a one-off payment of £10 to hopefully get a tax code sent to HL. HL told us that the top up would be received on April 21st and the process would be started at that time. Today, we went in to add another £2880 for the new tax year. When we initially set up the SIPP with HL we had to supply my wife's bank account and I assumed that after the first payment we would be able to transfer money from that account. However, it is asking us to pay via a debit card and my wife doesn't have a debit card for this account as it is really being used as a savings account. We have another joint account with a debit card which we could use but can we add money to my wife's SIPP from a joint account?

    Yes you can
  • Yes - I have also added to my wife's SIPP from my own account (and will probably do so again today)

Once the SIPP is set up, HL will take cash from any account. You can only do this online with a card in the name of the SIPP holder but just call the pensions help desk and they will do it over the phone. They have been very helpful.
