You can pick your own holes in the article...The mum and daughter team who won a parking battle in court - by finding a legal loophole
A mum and her trainee lawyer daughter have taken on and beaten parking firm Excel in court - after spotting a loophole.
Carol Backhouse, 48, received a £60 fine through the post after a family member had used her car to visit the Peel Centre, in central!Stockport!.
But she refused to pay Excel, who manage parking at the centre, and enlisted the help of daughter Claire, 29, who is a trainee legal executive.
At Manchester Civil Court Claire successfully argued that the company’s penalty charge notice (PCN) was invalid as it did not comply with the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012.
And as for the comments... just shows the ignorance still out there.:(

I nearly choked on my coffee when I read the Excel statement
“It is disappointing that Mrs Backhouse did not engage with us earlier as this could have avoided the matter proceeding to court.”0 -
Who posted that comment yesterday about how their old man used to use cut up newspapers in the outside privy..... Gotta love Excel, I'm almost tempted to travel up to Skipton for Lamilad's next outing with them.Although a practising Solicitor, my posts here are NOT legal advice, but are personal opinion based on limited facts provided anonymously by forum users. More that welcome. Skipton's is a beautiful little market town... But you need to bear in mind... It's full of northerners!
And not just any northerners.... Yorkshire folk!
So, unless you've got a flat cap and a wippit, i doubt they'll let you cross the M620 -
Fail to follow statute = loophole.
Fail to follow statute = incompetent, IMO.0
