Hello
I got myself in a few financial difficulties about 6/7 years ago with mail order etc. but I am now a credit worthy person with a good credit score and no record of any defaulted accounts or ccjs on my credit file.
I have recently received 2 letters, one from CapQuest acting on behalf of Littlewoods saying that unless I contact them within 5 days then they will start pre-litigation action to recover this debt.........I do not know anything about this debt and as there is nothing showing on my credit report so I can't find out any info on it either. I have also received a letter from Mackenzie Hall saying that they are attempting to contact the above named person regarding a personal matter after googling them I have realised that this a blanket letter and they are awful company to deal with and I should not phone them under any circumstances.
Both of these letters have been addressed in my maiden name, so I should just ignore them and then if I get anymore return them as unknown addresse as technically that is not my name anymore or should I send a statue barred letter as anything that I might have owed would be over 6 years old now?
Thank you for any advice offered

If the debt is from over 6 years ago - this will be statue barred. Mackenzie hall and capquest are well known for chasing (or trying) old debts.
DO NOT CONTACT THEM BY PHONE IN ANY CASE
A search of the threads will be in order to find a letter which you can send off to them asking for a copy of the original credit agreement to prove this debt ect. sorry I don't have a link to it at the mo. From memory - bellieve Rog2 has it.
These 2 companies are chancers.
