How to find out the year your house was built

Hi
Does anyone know where I can find out the year my house was built. I don't have the deeds (the mortgage company has them). I tired land and registery and they said that for £5 I could present myself to their office and ask but the records they hold may not have the info. Belfast City Council said the phone land registry and land registery said the phone Belfast City Council. I am slowly loosing my patience with the lot of them.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

Options that come to mind:
Contact mortgage providor (they should have your deeds - solicitor who did conveyance work may also have a copy) check any prior house survey, ask the neighbours, pay £5 to land registry and take your chances.
If it’s for the purpose of insurance a rough date will generally suffice. Some online home insurance companies have the info integrated into their systems so that when you put in your postcode it automatically fills in the date of build but I'm not sure how accurate this is.0 -
If the house is in a street maybe one of your neighbours will know?0

Ask the mortgage lender for a copy of your deeds, I did this and got photocopies, no charge.0

If your house is modern enough and you only need the approximate year requested by insurance companies, have a look at the date printed on the inside of your PVC windows or velux windows, if available. That's how I got mine but it's unlikely to be an option for older houses or houses not on their original windows.0
