Please help- query regarding an effective pay cut

Hello there (I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section).
I am hoping you can all help me regarding my rate of pay .

I am a supervisor in a small supermarket and was getting paid £8.20 and a 50p bonus per hour.

Our shop assistants in the shop were getting paid £7.20 with a 50p bonus an hour but with the new government living wage are now getting paid £7.50 with the 50p bonus.
Normally when our shop assistants get a pay rise my bosses up my wages, along with my managers by the same amount. My boss has advised me today however that the 30p pay rise is being split into two.
My basic wage will be £8.35 and my bonus will become 65p. So if i don't get paid my bonus for what ever reason, i have effectively been given a 15p pay per hour cut which means i am getting paid 85p an hour more that our shop assistants when i was getting paid £1.00 higher.
My knowledge is not the greatest when it comes to this kind of thing but as much as i am unhappy with this are my bosses breaking any laws? As they are paying me above the living wage i am presuming this is perfectly legal but more morally wrong?

Thank you for any future help. Its much appreciated.

Your title is wrong. Your pay is not being cut, it's just not being increased as much as you would like.

Unless you have a contractual term guaranteeing you the same rise as lower paid staff (very unlikely), it is perfectly lawful.

As above, it can't be a pay cut because you have never earned the hypothetical higher amount for it to be cut from.

How often do you get paid the bonus: always, frequently, sometimes, never? And how often do the rest of the staff get the bonus when you don't?

I think if you usually do get the bonus you're worrying about something that wouldn't normally be a problem. And I'm afraid you are correct that your emplyer is doing nothing legally wrong (and I'm not really convinced that there's anything morally wrong either, you will always be paid more than the rest of the staff even if they get a bonus and you don't).
