    I've been Money Tipped!
Hmmm sorry to butt in but I have about 4 boxes of cheap value gravy, it tastes awful like pure salt and can never get texture right its either watery or too thick.

I am guessing good quality gravy granules will be fine.

Am I missing something? I just add a stock cube to my onion gravy.

Depending on what's cooking.... to the basic gravy... I add either, a spoonful of Marmite (or the cheapo equivalent), English mustard, wholegrain mustard, fried onions. Lots of black pepper! Sometimes I add the whole lot as I am a rebel. I even chop up jalapenos to make a spicey gravy.

I use either supermarket's own veggie or onion granules or Kallo cubes.

Some guests have loved my food, some have died. Just thought I'd say. Hope this helps.

Dekaspace if you don't like those gravy granules don't put yourself through the misery of getting through 4 boxes

If you don't want to waste them, you could use a tiny bit for the thickening and seasoning but flavour your gravy with stock pots, veggies, chutney etc as posted here.

Not all so called "good" brands are best or to your taste. It's a bit of trial and experiment. Any gravy made with fresh ingredients; meats, onions, veggies will likely always taste better than shop bought.

I agree. Bin the rubbish gravy granules! Start again. If you don't want to waste the stuff...chop up lots of celery and add to the dissolved gravy granules. Add a spud or two to soak up the salt, then discard the spuds. It might work.

Oh and I forgot to say, sometimes a teaspoonful of mint sauce is lovely in gravy.
