Apprentices Mortgage Chances

Options
Hi,

I would like to ask for some advice about apprentices and mortgages.

I am currently saving to buy a house with my partner, however it is difficult to find out information on mortgages for apprentices.

Firstly does anyone know what apprentices are classed as in terms of employment in the banks eyes? I'm not sure if they look at fixed term contract rules or not.

Secondly does anyone know the chances of me being successful in a mortgage application with a salary of 19500 for myself and 10000 for my partner, with a car on finance at 250 per month. 15000 deposit with 5000 spare for fees/furniture. Looking for a house worth 100K so an 85K mortgage roughly.

A mortgage adviser has said we will probably be okay with my situation as I have worked for 18 months and have 18 months left. However my partner has worked 7 months and has 5 months left and apparently she needs to have worked at least 12 months with 6 months left. Neither of us have a guarantee of employment afterwards despite our companies hoping to keep us on.

Thanks
DJR

  • if you have no idea if you will have a job after the set period, is it wise to buy a house now? Worse thing to do is get your house repossessed and you will not be able to get a loan or mortgage for a very very long time.
