Reference help

Basically my job offer was subject to 2 satisfactory references and a DBS check.

The DBS came back fine.

The company sent off for 3 references as we were not sure if one would reply and the one we thought that wouldn't hasn't and when asked even claimed they didn't get it.

The other two were spot on. So now I have my start date as Monday coming and I'll get my contract of employment.

My question is and I'm a little worried about. If the third reference happened to come back and wasn't so good because I didn't get on too well with my manager so potentially could be bad could they still withdraw the offer even though the conditions of two satisfactory references were met and contract signed?

Worried because I also sign off JSA so would be horrible for that to happen.

Help.

You can be dismissed for almost any reason, or no reason at all, any time in the first two years. So I wouldn't worry about what you can't change. Nobody here can tell you what the employer might do if something like this happens. But the world unfolds as it will, and worrying about it won't do you any good. Good luck with the new job.

It seems unlikely that the third person is even going to respond. If they did, and if was a less than brilliant reference - your new employer will still have two good references and (by then) some knowledge of you as an employee to balance it against.

Good luck with the new job :)
