Am I obliged to take a break?

I haven't worked the new longer shifts yet, my original question relates to the fact that the change is up-and-coming.
Thanks for the suggestions, I had toyed with the idea of just finishing half an hour early but I know I'll get picked up on it at some stage. The original question was merely to find out if I was obliged (as opposed to entitled) to take the break and wondered if anyone was in a similar position/had similar experience as my management (see above for details) and would have an idea.
Seems like I'll have to play it by ear. Thanks to everyone for trying to help.0
