Bank mistake - 2 applications same day!
Hi all,
I need some advice and I haven't seen a thread that covers my specific problem.
I applied for a loan online but didn't receive a message the next day to confirm so I called the bank. They said that if the application didn't appear on their system at all then the application was not completed. I asked them to double and triple check which they did (absolutely nothing came up) so we went through the application process over the phone. Unfortunately it wasn't approved as the full amount of rent comes out of my account and not just what I am liable for. Which has never been a problem before but I guess as I bank with them they were able to check my statement. My partner and i live together and its a joint contract.
Anyway with one search I figured I could apply somewhere else and be successful even if it means means a higher Apr. However, the original online application did go through a few hours after the telephone conversation and therefore they completed 2 searches within hours for the same amount etc. I have told them that I don't want to proceed due to the problem I mentioned above.
They are taking off the second search but I know that will take a while.
As it's the same bank, same day and same amount is it possible it will just go through as one search? All of this happened yesterday and my experian report has not updated so it still says that I haven't made any applications.
My credit rating is very good, I work full time (30k) and only 2 credit cards with a low balance. No negatives on my report.
Is it worth the risk of applying somewhere else if they may see 2 searches made by the bank yesterday? Or should I wait to see what actually happens to my report?
Sorry it's so long but it's a complicated situation! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you need the loan, go ahead and apply.0

Thank you. My worry is a another decline. Whereas if I wait for the second search to be taken off I may still be able to apply somewhere else let's say in 6 weeks. It's just annoying as it's not on my report so I can't even see the impact it has had.
I do need it, but the worst case scenario of being declined and not being able to apply again for 6-12 months due to having 2 searches terrifies me!0 -
What's the urgency for the loan? Is there a way you can squeeze by without it?

2 searches are not gonna be a issue. Use the MSE soft loan search to see what your chances are.0

Were they both declined?
If so then affordability may be an issue with other lenders as well.
I think the bank are being quite helpful removing a credit check, but the number of checks may not be your main issue.0
