I'm a few years light on my NI contributions, so my weekly pension is cut down to £97 per week.

My wife has an excess which would cover my deficit, if it were allowed, and receives her full State pension.

Is it possible to transfer her excess to my deficit I wonder?

Please don't suggest Pension Credit, we're well out of that band.

NI credits are personal.

You could consider deferring your state pension for a bit - if it was already in payment pre-April 2016 then I think you get an increase of something over 10% for each year you defer.

If it is only just in payment / not yet in payment, then its not as good - around 5.8% I think, but still better than cash deposits.

If its not in payment you could probably buy extra post-16 years to boost it.

Yes I did. I reached 65 on July 6 2011.
