Less than 12 months UK employment

I've just discovered that Coventry require 12 months continuous employment history for a mortgage.. Is this a common requirement?
EDIT: Tesco do not have this requirement. They want to see a full history, but will accept work abroad, and short gaps. However it takes quite a lot of hanging-on to get that information. Is there a shortcut to discover lenders' criteria?

I have the same issue. My mortgage advisor said Barclays is the only lender he would think. We will try an agreement in principle and I let you know if it's approved0

Might be a good call, according to Barclays criteria:Employed applicants are required to have been employed by their current employer for 3 consecutive months prior to application or to have been in continuous employment with no gaps for the last 18 months.0 -

If it helps.... I had a contract type job. I left and had a month gap between my new job which is permanent. I started in January and provided one full month's payslip in February to TSB bank. My mortgage got accepted no problem (went through broker)0

Honestly, in your situation I'd find a broker. They are worth their fee, ours saved us more than we paid.
In the end Halifax gave us one, but Barclays wouldn't.0 -
To add to rach3l.... We were going to go through Halifax ourselves ... But went through a broker who ended up getting us a lower rate and with a £750 cashback deal with tsb. Broker was only £195 so he saved us money too. It is worth it.
I had 0 issues with only one month's payslip with tsb... Broker seemed to think i wouldn't have had an issue with Halifax either.0 -
I've had an answer from Barclays and they require at least 2 years living in the UK for non europeans, not my case0
