Decided not to take the new role after signing contract

Hi All, I was recently approached by a competitor company and decided to take the opportunity and signed a contract to start. However my current company after listening to my reasons for leaving made me a counter offer and persuaded me to stay. I've now instructed the new company that I will no longer be joining, giving only a weeks notice to them (I wish I could have given them more but my company only came to me at the last minute). In the new contract it's states that during the first three months of the probationary period that myself or the new company only need to give a weeks notice to terminate the employment.
As I haven't started the role and have given the weeks notice as stated in the contract, am I liable for anything? Any help would be appreciated

I would say no. (From my armchair) you've done everything right.
Are you seeing something that worries you otherwise?
While my employer works to their own contracts as well rather then complete reliance on statutory terms so wouldn't recognise what I'm going to suggest, unless... well maybe just maybe they were doing the firing it would be then recognised) - Perhaps familiarise yourself with being a brand new starter and non protection that can be attached for the first 24 months to understand why I don't think you should worry to much.
I did remember hearing someone actually getting a sub/advance before they even started work for a company once(imagine that if things went pete tong oh-er) crazy eh! See bigger things to worry about.

Then that is all you need to give.
If there is not a clear week left before you were due to start then, technically, you should turn up and work for however many days there are until the end of the notice. However I can't imagine for one moment they would want you to.0 -
