Post Bankruptcy Credit Card

I was declared Bankrupt way back in January 2011.
During the last six years I followed the advice on this site and did the credit file clean up, I managed to get everything sorted without any great issues. All default dates were the same as or before my bankruptcy date.
During the six year post bankruptcy period all my monthly payments, Mortgage, Phone, Utilities etc. were paid by direct debit and there were no missed or late payments.
Last year using the soft search facility on the MSE site I checked to see if I could get a credit card.
The results were not great, 90% chance of acceptance on two high interest rate credit builder cards and no chance on any of the main stream cards.
The six years were up in January this year, I got a copy of my credit report and the bankruptcy along with all the defaults had dropped off.
Again using the MSE soft search I checked if I could get a credit card.
The results were quite surprising, 95% chance of acceptance with Barclaycard and Tesco, 90% chance with M&S and Tesco and quite a few others.
Based on the results I made an application online to Barclaycard and was accepted.
I was given a card with a £4000 limit and a decent interest rate
I will only use the card for fuel and have set up a direct debit to pay the outstanding balance in full each month.
So if you are going through bankruptcy at the moment, hang in there things can and do get better.
