  • Hi all a couple of questions for those who've been doing their DMP a while.
I'm self managing without any real acknowledgement from my creditors is this normal?
I am getting to the point where the letters are talking about final demands & transferring to collection teams or agencies. What can I expect going forward?
Also can you add a holiday into your plan,I don't mean a world cruise but a cheapish week in spain or caravan park in the UK?I've started paying £5/month till April when I've offered my budgeted payments.

    Thanks

Okay so heard from Barclaycard this morning, standard reply, no more interest which is great and defaulting in March. However Argos, no reply by letter and a telephone call from no number ID when I asked for no telephone contact! Also, what happens now in terms of, ive been defaulted, does that mean no more interest after the default? Do I just continue to pay my token payments and if it gets moved on to someone else they’ll send me a letter.

  • If I go self managed (which seems more favourable to me at the moment), do we at any stage have to send proof of what we are earning to the credit card companies? I'm self employed so the amount can vary.
  • Newbie here :)
Today I got confirmation that my token payment plan through Step Change has been set up. At the end of 2017 I made a promise to myself to address my debt problems this year. I am now waiting to hear from my creditors to see if they will accept the offer. I'm scared about the possible phone calls/letters I'll start to receive but also relieved that after months of stupidly burying my head in the sand I've made a step to sort things out.
Reading through this thread has really helped make me feel less alone and realise that I've done the right thing seeking help.

I've been self managed for over 2 years. I send income and expenditure statements, but I have never ever sent payslips, bank statements, bills or anything that actually evidences income and expenditure matches what is put on the I&E statement.

    Hi tonyace

I too have Halifax 2 x high loans. I started with SC, then went SM.
I telphoned the collections department at Halifax to challenge added interest and the lady was actually very nice. They promptly refunded interest so I asked when they would be defaulting. I asked again a few weeks later and after approx 5 - 6 months of not paying the full amount they finally defaulted.

Our accounts are now being managed by Wescot although they haven’t been sold on to them.

No, not at all, what it means is they will continue to accept your payments, but may look to sell the debt on at some point.

    Standard procedure for most creditors.
