People tend to worry more about things they are unsure about.

In a little while you’ll look back on this and think, now just what was all that fuss about ??

Exactly as I am doing now. A far cry from this time last year :o

Next few weeks tend to be busy on here with an influx of new people who struggle to pay their bills when they hit the doormat in January, you were not the first, you wont be the last, glad its all ticking along nicely.

Can NOT believe my luck. My hearing aid fell out of my ear at the gym and I moved a jumper on the floor to look for it. As I did that, a cable grip is just changed smashed the hearing aid that was on the floor. It’s completely destroyed!!!!

Not that I can do anything over Christmas but do you think I can stall my first Stepchange payment until I find out how much it’s going to cost me to replace the aid? I wear 2 but this is my bad ear so no way I can go without. I’ll probably have to ring in sick until I can get sorted.

I normally lurk on this thread, having found it just after I decided enough was enough and started a token payment plan with Stepchange. I didn't have any sort of emergency fund.

I did roughly a year with them, and following all the advice on this thread, went self managed a couple of months ago, still paying token payments.

I have been incredibly lucky this year and had a large refund from one account which built up my emergency fund and meant I could clear one debt. I have also amazingly had another debt of almost £7k written off as it was unenforceable.

Today I have settled another debt for roughly 33% and received a PPI refund which I used to do so. I still have a very long way to go, but am so much further forward than I was this time last year.

Absolutely none of this would have happened without the advice from everyone on this thread, from the regulars who post advice to the new people with loads of questions.

Thank you to everyone on here, and I hope you have a lovely Christmas and New Year

    Hi,

Not heard that one before, stall as long as necessary, just keep them informed.

Look on it as a marathon, not a sprint, its your DMP, you control it.

    Thanks, Sourcrates.
Just had a look at the Specsavers website for an idea of costings and it looks like it’ll be in the region of £600-£1000 so I’ll probably ask if I can stall until March.

Can't you get an NHS one? That would be free wouldn't it?
