Hi M, nice to see you posting.
Totally agree with the part about Sourcrates, he is a great asset to the forum.
Hi vaper
Hope all is well with you. I am still here lurking in the background and reading and picking up tips all the time. I have now got to the stage where I am not petrified any more that's not to say I won't be back with questions, I know I will and I also know I will definitely be given sound advice.

. I truly believed that the bailiffs were coming, I would be hauled up in court, debt collectors would harass me, some big hairy heavy bloke would appear at my door demanding money.
Sourcrates( should be knighted)and others steered me in the right direction and will you too.
Good luck
Indeed Sourcrates does put in a shift here and bless them for that!
Also, if I ever set up a debt recovery firm (Calm down, I'm not that evil!) I'll make sure all of my bailiffs shave, all over. No hairy blokes here

I didn't know that. I thought as a volunteer post you'd be just asked to visit as much as you can but hey!

Hi Olivia,
A few more details wouldn't go amiss, like :
what's your outstanding debt balance ?
what actions have you taken to date with your creditors ?,
is everything defaulted ?
Etc etc, the more detail the better.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Hi all
Today myself and my DH have received letters from BC. Both letters identical stating that if we haven't bought our accounts up to day by 18th August they will be issuing defaults on both accounts. Previously we have had letters saying we may issue a default. This is what we have wanted to happen so it looks like they are moving along now.
Does this mean they are very likely to sell on now?Emptying my lake with a teaspoon0 -

Looks that way. That appears to be a default notice, and is the step before closing your account fully prior to selling it on.
And of course a good indicator as to what to look out for when it comes to dealing with creditors.
Anything with innuendo, with "May" or "We will be considering pursuing further action" means "File under B". Legally speaking, they have to state exactly what they're doing if they intend on defaulting you in this case, or taking any legal action.
The wording of these letters, especially from DCAs are carefully worded to sound as scary as possible while not actually saying anything from a legal standpoint.
