Please Can Anyone Offer Me Some Advice. My Mother Is 59 Years And My Dad 66 Years. Neither Of Them Work And Claim Benefits (which They Are Entitled Too)! They Have £1000 Left To Pay On Their Mortgage. My Mam Has Bank Loans And Cards Coming Out Of Her Ears As She Pays One Loan Off With Another Etc Etc. I Really Want Them To Stop Having To Worry About Money And Just Getting By. Ive Mentioned Going To A Debt Surgery Or The Likes With My Mam To Help Her Sort Out All Her Debts And Pay One Monthly Affordable Payment. However She Is Scepticle Because Of Her Age And Financial Circumstances Etc. Please Can Anyone Offer Me Any Advice Or Point Me In The Right Direction To Help My Parents Out Of This Huge Debt Hole.

Tell her to watch the news today. A lot (over half I think) of OAPs are in debt. £30,000 was the average I think. So no need to be embarrassed. My mother is in exactly the same boat.

A DMP is the probable solution if they own their own home, but I really think they would be better making an appointment with the CAB so that they can discuss it face-to-face.
